AFFD PREVIEW: The Asian Film Festival of Dallas kicks off its 11th edition tonight at the Magnolia Theatre. Getting things started is Takashi Miike’s Ace Attorney – you might remember Miike from last year’s excellent 13 Assassains and its nearly 45-minute fight scene. The festival runs through July 19, and Chris Vognar offers up a preview of some of the other films on the schedule on dallasnews.com. Check back tomorrow when Chris and I speak with AFFD executive director Alicia Chang on the Big Screen podcast.

ART ON TV: If you remember Is This Art?, a weekly television show that once aired on WFAA … you’ve seen some TV in your time. The show, which was a partnership between the Dallas Museum of Art and the Junior League, was broadcast on WFAA from 1950-52. The museum recently came across some photos from the production, which it has posted on its Uncrated blog.
