UTAH CALLING: Congratulations are in order for Dallas’ David Lowery, who is one of 12 filmmakers selected for the Sundance Institute’s Screenwriter’s Lab in January. Lowery, who made the well-regarded feature St. Nick and the short Pioneer, will work with a team of creative advisers on his current project, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints. Among the advisers are Lisa Cholodenko, John Lee Hancock and Nicole Holofcener.
DYNAMIC DUO: Theatre Three is mixing it up this holiday season with La Bete, a play set in 17th Century France in which a high-minded artistic director is pressured to cast a crass comic in his new show. The main roles are played by Bradley Campbell and Jakie Cabe – two busy local actors working together for the firs time. They talk about the show – and the degrees to which they see themselves in their characters – with dallasnews.com.
ANN SPEAKS: This is a big year for Ann Williams as Dallas Black Dance Theatre, which she founded, celebrates its 35 anniversary. To mark the occasion, Southern Dallas Magazine has named Williams CEO of the Year. Williams spoke with the magazine about the many ups and downs of running the company over the years. Of particular interest is her story of how the company came to inhabit its current building downtown.
