Here’s an Oscar truism – the best actress race is a young woman’s game. Since 2000, Sandra Bullock and Helen Mirren are the only women over 40 who have won the award. (For comparison’s sake, the best actor award went to a man over 40 six times in that span).
Why are we talking about this? Because Black Swan opens next Friday, and Natalie Portman is getting all kinds of buzz for her portrayal of a disturbed ballerina. Portman’s already been nominated in the supporting category once (Closer), and she seems to be a lock for a lead actress nomination this year.
This is where you come in.
