Darren Woods — who became the Fort Worth Opera’s general director in 2001 — has had his contract extended another five years to June 2015. Before coming to Fort Worth, the native Texan was the general director of the Shreveport Opera in Louisiana and had performed for 20 years as a professional tenor with such companies as the Santa Fe Opera and the Glimmerglass Opera. Recently, Woods also became a board member of OPERA America and was profiled in Opera News.
